FIFA, the football governing body has confirmed three bids from the three regional confederations for the 24th FIFA Football World Cup (The Century World Cup or the 100th anniversary of the first world cup 1930). The Confederation or countries' bids have been confirmed are as CAF (The Confederation of African Football) Morocco, CONMEBOL (The South American Football Confederation)Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, and Chile, and EUFA (Union of European Football Associations)Spain, Portugal, and Ukraine. In the mean, some other confederations member states individually or jointly showed their interest in hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup. On the other hand, some of the bids have been rejected by FIFA, while a few of the bids have been withdrawn by the proposed host countries too.
Why 2030 FIFA World Cup is So special?
Among the many other reasons, the 2030 World Cup will be a milestone of 100 years of the FIFA World Cup, while the first ever Football World Cup was held in 1930 in Uruguay. Meanwhile, as there is no lack of interest among football fans in this world's biggest event, the competition is going on among the organizers to host the 2030 World Cup.
Whereas previous FIFA World Cups have traditionally featured 32 teams, the 2026 World Cup (which will be hosted by three North American countries, Canada, Mexico, and the United States), will feature 48 teams. Meanwhile, Bolivia is also keen to join the South American bid.
Now coming to Europe, Spain, and Portugal bid together to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, but Ukraine joined the bid with these two countries in 2020. As a result, Spain, Portugal, and Ukraine bid jointly to host the 2030 World Cup, which is known as the European bid. Therefore, if this bid is successful, Ukraine would be the third country along with Spain and Portugal to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup and Ukraine will host some of the group-stage games.
