India's master blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored the first double century (200) in the history of ODI cricket in 2010. The little master was unbeaten on 200* runs against South Africa at the Gwalior Stadium on 24 February 2010. His historic innings included 25 fours and 3 sixes off 147 balls. This right-handed batsman is the highest run-scorer in world cricket history so far. No one has yet surpassed his mountain of runs in ODI and test cricket so far. He played his debut ODI match against Pakistan at the age of 17.

Most 200 Scorers in ODI Cricket

Virender Sehwag – 219

The year after Sachin's historic innings (200*) saw the second double century from the bat of his teammate Virender Sehwag in ODI cricket. Sehwag played an innings of 219 runs off 149 balls with 25 fours and 7 sixes against the West Indies in Indore, India. He is a right-handed opening batsman and he is known for playing aggressively. He played his ODI debut match in 1999 against Pakistan. He became the second batsman in the world and the second Indian batsman to score a double century in ODI cricket.

Chris Gayle – 215

Before Chris Gayle, all double centuries in ODI cricket were scored by Indian batsmen. The Caribbean batsman scored 215 runs against Zimbabwe in the 2015 ICC ODI World Cup. He hit 16 sixes and 10 fours in that innings in Canberra, Australia. Gayle became the first West Indies batsman to score a double hundred in ODI cricket. Gayle played his debut ODI match in cricket in 1999 against India. He is a left-handed opening batsman and he is known for playing aggressively.

Martin Guptill – 237*

Martin Guptill scored 237* against the West Indies in the 2015 ICC ODI World Cup. On March 21, 2015, he hit 11 sixes and 24 fours in that innings at Sky Stadium, in Wellington, New Zealand. Guptill became the first New Zealand batsman and fourth cricketer to score a double hundred in ODI cricket. His double century in ODI cricket stands today as the record for the highest individual runs in World Cup cricket history. Guptill made his ODI debut in 2009 against the West Indies. He is a right-handed opening batsman and he is known for playing aggressively.

Rohit Sharma – 208* 209, 264

In 2013, Rohit Sharma entered the double-hundred club in ODI cricket. The Indian opener scored 209 runs off 158 balls against Australia in Bangalore (India). Rohit became the first batsman to hit twice double-hundreds in ODI cricket the following year. Not only that, that innings against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata stand today as the highest individual run-scoring innings in ODI history. He slashed 264 runs off 173 balls with 33 fours and 9 sixes. On the other hand, in the history of surpassing himself, Rohit once again scored a double century. This time again against Sri Lanka in Chandigarh, Punjab, India, in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit remained unbeaten with 208 runs off 153 balls. He hit 12 sixes and 13 fours in that innings and he became the only batsman to score three double-hundreds in ODI cricket history.  

Fakhar Zaman – 210*

On July 20, 2018, Fakhar Zaman scored his first double-hundred (210*) against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo. He hit 5 sixes and 24 fours in that innings, and he became the first Pakistani batsman to score an unbeaten 210 in ODI cricket. Fakhr Zaman played his debut ODI match for Pakistan in 2017 against South Africa. Fakhr Zaman is a left-handed opening batsman and he is known for playing aggressively.

Ishan Kishan -210

210(131) Indian opener Ishan Kishan scored a double century in the third ODI against Bangladesh at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur in December 2022. He hit 10 sixes and 24 fours in that innings, and he is the fourth Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma to score a double century in ODI cricket. In 2021, he played his debut ODI match for India against Sri Lanka. Ishan Kishan is a left-handed opening batsman and he is known for playing aggressively.

Shubman Gill -208

208(149) India's other batsman Shubman Gill scored a double century against New Zealand on 18 January 2023 at Hyderabad Cricket Stadium, India. He hit 19 fours and 9 sixes in his innings of 208 runs off 149 balls. He is the fifth Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, and Ishan Kishan to get a double century in ODI cricket. Gill made his ODI cricket debut against New Zealand in 2019 and he is a right-handed batsman.

Glenn Maxwell- 201*

201*(179) Glenn Maxwell is the first Australian batsman to score a double-century in the ODI. He has achieved this feat in the ICC One Day International World Cup match against Afghanistan, held in India in 2023. In this brilliant inning, he hit 21 fours and 10 massive sixes, and Australia won the match.
